Product Development
The customer of AIGSS specializes in providing hosted and licensed software solutions to the property-casualty insurance industry - delivering cost-effective, turnkey processing solutions to both personal and commercial sectors. The customer's flagship insurance processing product was developed for the IBM iSeries (formerly AS/400) platform to cater to the end-to-end requirements of property-casualty insurers.
In line with its vision to expand the product's market and provide value-added services to its existing clients, our customer sought to enhance the features of the product, from increasing core processing functionality to technical advancements such as Internet enablement. To help meet its new product development and support objectives, the customer formed a strategic relationship with AIGSS. AIGSS was chosen for its domain and technology expertise and proven track-record high quality, fast project delivery.
The key challenge for AIGSS was to scale the team in order to make it productive within a short period of time. In addition to understanding technical architecture, the AIGSS team had to acquire a working knowledge of the product, which supports more than 32 lines of business. Experienced resources were recruited from the market, and the two companies conducted workshops and accelerated training programs to bring new recruits up-to-speed. As a part of this initiative, AIGSS has established a dedicated development center for the customer to provide engineering and customization support for the product.
The project functions in a fused delivery model wherein the AIGSS team acts as an extension of the customer's software organization.During the past eight months of association, AIGSS has helped the customer significantly advance the product. This included web-enabling the majority of the product modules (policy, billing, claims, etc.), which was a key to the customer meeting its marketing objectives. Additionally, several new features were added to enhance the functionality, usability and maintenance of the product. The partnership with AIGSS helped the customer realize significant cost savings.
